Motion tracking

Key points

  • Motion tracking makes text, stickers or effects follow a moving subject.
  • Select the overlay, tap Tracking, then place the box on the subject.
  • Pick a subject with clear contrast so the track does not slip.

Speed ramping with curves

Key points

  • Speed curves change clip speed smoothly instead of in one jump.
  • Presets like Montage or Hero give a quick fast-slow-fast ramp.
  • Drag curve points to land the slow part on the key action.

Colour grading with curves and HSL

Key points

  • Curves adjust brightness and contrast across shadows, midtones and highlights.
  • HSL changes the hue, saturation and lightness of one colour at a time.
  • Fix exposure and white balance first, then add the creative look.

Smooth slow motion with optical flow

Key points

  • Optical flow creates in-between frames so slowed clips stay smooth.
  • It works best on footage shot at higher frame rates like 60 fps.
  • Fast, busy motion can show warping, so check the result closely.
