Short answer

ICAI has scheduled CA Intermediate January 2027 exams from 2 to 12 January 2027: Group I on 2, 4 and 6 January and Group II on 8, 10 and 12 January, from 2 PM (three-hour papers as reported). The exam form window opens 3 November 2026, with 16 November 2026 as the last date without late fee, through ICAI's Self Service Portal. With about 60 days left, the best plan is: 2 revision rounds + at least one full mock per paper + a final quick-revision cycle in the gaps between papers.

This is the plan I'd hand a friend who asked me, "60 days left, what do I do?" Adjust it to your own strong and weak papers.

Always confirm dates and timings in the official ICAI announcement on icai.org; secondary sites sometimes show outdated timetables.

Key dates at a glance

WhatDate
Exam form opens3 Nov 2026
Last date without late fee16 Nov 2026
Group I papers2, 4, 6 Jan 2027
Group II papers8, 10, 12 Jan 2027

Fill the form early. Do not wait for the late-fee window; portal traffic is heavy near deadlines.

The 60-day plan

Start date assumption: around 1 November 2026. Shift the dates if you start earlier or later, but keep the proportions.

Phase 1 (Days 1–25): First full revision

  • Divide days by paper weight and your weakness, not equally.
  • For each chapter: read your summary notes, then solve ICAI study-material questions and RTP/MTP questions. Questions first, theory reading only where you get stuck.
  • Keep a mistake notebook: one line per error (concept, formula, presentation).
  • Daily target example: one theory-heavy chapter + one numerical chapter.

Phase 2 (Days 26–45): Second revision + mocks

  • Revise from your own notes and the mistake notebook only.
  • One full 3-hour mock per paper, at 2 PM, to match the exam slot. Use ICAI's MTPs.
  • Check the mock honestly against the suggested answers. Note where marks were lost: speed, presentation, concept.
  • Re-solve only the questions you got wrong.

Phase 3 (Days 46–60): Final cycle

  • Quick revision of formulas, standards, provisions and amendments applicable for your attempt (check ICAI's applicability notices for Jan 2027).
  • One more timed mock for your weakest paper.
  • Sleep schedule aligned to a 2 PM exam: don't study past midnight in the last week.

Between papers

You get a gap day between most papers. Use it for:

  1. Morning: full skim of the next paper's notes.
  2. Afternoon (2–5 PM): solve one past question set at exam time.
  3. Evening: mistake notebook + formulas. Stop by 10 PM.

How to split time across papers

Your situationSuggested weight
Strong in practical, weak in theoryMore Phase 1 days to theory papers; write answers, don't just read
Appearing in both groupsPrioritise Group I in Phase 1, but never leave a Group II paper untouched for more than 5 days
Single groupTwo full mocks per paper are realistic

Presentation habits that save marks

  • Start each answer on a new page; write question numbers clearly.
  • In numericals, show working notes: examiners can give step marks.
  • In theory and law answers, write provision → facts → conclusion.
  • Underline key terms; avoid long paragraphs.

Mistakes to avoid in the last 60 days

  1. Starting new books or new classes. Revise what you already studied.
  2. Only reading, not writing. Writing speed is a real limit in a 3-hour paper.
  3. Skipping mocks out of fear. A bad mock now is cheaper than a bad paper in January.
  4. Ignoring amendments/applicability. Check ICAI's notices for your attempt.
  5. Health. Fixed sleep, light food on exam days, short walks.

A sample day (Phase 2)

TimeTask
7:00–10:00Theory revision with written answers
10:30–1:00Numerical practice, mistake notebook
2:00–5:00Full mock (exam slot)
6:00–7:30Check mock, note errors
8:30–10:00Light revision, formulas

How many mocks should I write?

At least one full mock per paper under exam conditions; two for your weakest papers if time allows.
