YUNOVA Score
How well one video fits one topic, for one level. The same video can score well on one topic and badly on another, because the score is about the fit, not about the video's fame.
The five parts, out of 100
- Topic match — 20
The video's own title, description and chapter titles against the topic's title, its key points and the curriculum's words for it. - Language fit — 25
The level's rule: Hindi-medium for Beginner and Elementary; Hinglish, Hindi or English for Intermediate; Hinglish, English or Hindi for Advanced. What a person heard after watching beats what the uploader declared. - Length fit — 15
A lesson, not a skim or a lecture: full marks from 4 to 20 minutes, less towards 2 and 30, none outside. A chapter is judged on the chapter. - Human check — 30
YUNOVA's own verdict on this video for this topic: keep or replace, and a rating of 1 to 5. It is the heaviest part, because a person having watched it beats anything a machine can read. - Learner response — 10
YUNOVA's own records: helpful and not-helpful marks from learners, and how many of those who started the video said they watched it.
The YUNOVA estimate: when nobody has watched it yet
The five parts above need a person to have watched the video, and most of the catalogue is still waiting for that. Rather than show nothing, every other video carries a YUNOVA estimate. It is worked out from the title, language and length. Not a reviewed score. Title reading is worth 40 of the 100: someone read the video's title against the topic and judged that it teaches the topic (40), partly covers it (20) or is about something else (0); a title not read yet gets 20. The other 60 are the same topic match (20), language fit (25) and length fit (15) as above. An off-topic title can never estimate above 30, and off-topic videos are not offered while the topic has a better one. The estimate uses no views, likes, comments or subscriber counts. It is a guess from a title, so it is always printed as an estimate, never as a YUNOVA Score.
- Title reading — 40
- Topic match — 20
- Language fit — 25
- Length fit — 15
What learners say joins the estimate, but only after 10 learners have answered “Helpful” or “Not helpful” on that video for that topic. From then on a fifth part, “Learners found it helpful”, is worth 10 of the 100: the share who said Helpful, times 10. The four parts above are scaled to 90 so the total stays out of 100. Under 10 answers it is not counted at all. It changes the number shown beside the video, never the order of a journey: which video a topic offers first stays the curriculum's order.
When a score is shown
- Every number says which kind it is, right beside it. A video a person has watched reads “YUNOVA Score … watched and rated”; one nobody has watched yet reads “YUNOVA estimate … not watched yet”. They are different claims and are never printed as though they were the same one.
- Neither the score nor the estimate uses views, likes or comments. Not as a small part, not as a tie-breaker.
- Subscriber counts are used by neither. How many people follow a channel says nothing about whether one video teaches one topic.
- Fewer than five learner marks and that part is not counted. Its ten points are shared across the other four, so a new video is not held back for being new, and the line under the score says what it rested on.
- Scores are whole numbers. No decimals, no stars, no badges, no “96% match”.
- A video taken off a topic keeps no score on it.
A YUNOVA Score is about a video, not about you. What you can do is measured separately, by practice and assessment.
