Case Scenario on Conceptual Framework for Financial Statements

Vidyut Manufacturing Ltd. (VML) operates an industrial plant. On 1st April 2024, VML purchased a specialized heavy machine for ₹50,00,000. To bring the machine to its operational site, VML incurred ₹2,00,000 as transportation costs and ₹3,00,000 as installation fees. During April 2024, prior to commercial production, VML spent ₹1,00,000 on initial operating losses while testing the machine. The net realizable value of the machine as on 31st March 2025 is estimated at ₹48,00,000, while its present value of estimated future cash flows (value in use) is ₹52,00,000, and its current replacement cost is ₹58,00,000. On 1st October 2024, VML received a customer advance of ₹10,00,000 for goods to be manufactured and delivered in June 2025. By 31st March 2025, raw materials worth ₹4,00,000 had been purchased for this order, but no production had commenced. As on 1st April 2024, VML's opening equity was ₹1,00,00,000 represented by net physical assets of 1,00,000 units. By 31st March 2025, the price index for these physical assets increased by 10%. VML earned a profit before considering physical capital maintenance of ₹15,00,000 during FY 2024-25.
